Welcome to Rescue Beagle USA.

This blog is dedicated to Lucky, my sweet little girl who passed away in her sleep peacefully on 12-14-12. Lucky was a lemon beagle and came to us as a "rescue" when she was about 3-years old. While she was initially scared, the poor thing was all of 20-lbs (and for her size that was severely under weight) with lots of love and snacks she became the best friend a person could ever have - please give a rescue beagle a second change!

Alliance for Animals

Here's another note-worthy group: Alliance for Animals. Below is their mission statement:

AFA is a non-profit 501(c)3 animal rights organization whose fundamental belief is that all animals, human and nonhuman, should not be treated as the property of another. AFA was created to promote ethical, compassionate treatment of all animals through a variety of means including:
  • Educating and increasing the awareness of the public on matters relating to the ethical treatment of animals and the philosophy of animal rights
  • Promoting veganism, which is a moral and political commitment rather than simply a diet choice
  • Bringing to public attention situations of animal abuse and exploitation
  • Encouraging and supporting the efforts of pro-animal individuals and groups throughout the state
AFA makes every attempt to provide accurate information, to be approachable to the general public, to advocate for non-violence and respect, to serve as role models with respect to our views on antivivisection and veganism. AFA employs one part-time paid employee and strives to run the organization as financially responsible and efficiently as possible with the use of its volunteers, members, and donors. AFA is environmentally conscious and believes in acting locally to make change globally.

On their Web site, listed was a facility that  breeds and raises beagle puppies by the thousands to be sent to research facilities -- Ridglan Farms, LLC of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. To learn more, click here.
